Starting at the top left, you see that you have three horizontal lines a.k.a. hamburger. When tapped, it displays the menu.
Each of the menu options will take you to another Retail Inventory App screen.
Next you see Area and Section. As you conduct an inventory it is easy to track locations that you have inventoried.
Later if you need to double check or show a report, the Area and Section will help you identify the specific location.
The area and section are buttons that get enabled when you have typed four digits on the input field.
There are three ways to change the area/section.
You can type four digits then tap the area/section.
You can type a number with 4 or less digits then tap ^ or @ then when Enter is tapped, it will change area or section respectively.
Scan a barcode that has XXXX^ or XXXX@ and it will automatically update area or section.
For example, typing 0001 then the Section button will change to section 0001.
typing 1@ then tapping Enter will change section to 0001.
There are four labels that turn green or red depending if the piece of data they represent is accepted or not.
Next you have the text field that accepts the different pieces of data for the inventory.
To the left you have a label that indicates the principal piece of data that is expecting.
Below the input field you will either see the item description or "item was not found". Besides the visual indicators, there are beeps that alert you of something that is not expected. i.e. The item is not in the item master.
The next section is the keypad. Retail Inventory App has been designed to work with an external Bluetooth barcode scanner.
Having said that, you can also attach a USB hardware keypad or Bluetooth keypad and it will work as expected.
Most keys/buttons are self explained. The buttons will enable/disable depending if you can tap them or not
- Any data that has been entered into the text field will be cleared.
If you tap more than once, it will clear the text field
until the accepted entry is item
- This button is used when you want to set the Area using the keypad
without using the Area button. For example you tap , 0001 value will be set for Area
- This button is used when you want to set the Section using the keypad
without using the Section button. For example you tap , 0001 value will be set for Section
- When there is at least one character in the text field, the button will remove the last character in the field
- Sometimes it is easier to add an entry with a negative quantity than remove the wrong entry and enter it again.
This button allows you to do just that.
For example, if you entered item 000000000012 with a quantity of 125 then you realize that there are 120 instead of 125. Then you can use button to add the entry 000000000012 and -5.
Another scenario is when you have a stack of items with a count of 10 * 10 * 10 but is missing 12 on the top. You can enter 000000000012 with 1000 then 000000000012 with -12.
- When text field is expecting a quantity, you can use to add quantities for the same item.
For example, you can tap 0000000000121010
and you will have the entry with 000000000012 and 20 in the quantity field.
- This button let app know that you are ready to process what has been entered into the text field.
When using a USB/Bluetooth keypad, you can use the * when entering a quantity. For example, 10+10*10 is valid quantity entry. The result will be 110. It follows standard math operations.
The / is converted to ^ and the = is coverted to @. Those fields are used to set Area and Section respectively.
